Richard Iredale

Richard Iredale graduated in civil engineering and studio art from Stanford University in 1982 and began practice as a structural engineer with Bogue Babicki Associates. He played a principal role in the design of the Expo 86 Science World, developing the Dome’s innovative double-layer steel space-frame that became a Vancouver landmark. In 1992, he completed a Masters degree in Architecture at the University of Washington. Since then, Richard has designed and engineered many iconic buildings in western Canada, his style much influenced by his landscape painting. Notable projects include the Squamish Adventure Centre, the Kay Meek Centre in West Vancouver, and the Gorge Park Pavilion in Victoria.

A passionate environmentalist, Richard served as Board member and Chair of the Cascadia Green Building Council from 2009 to 2014. He was also a Board member of the Canada Green Building Council from 2006 to 2009, helping to establish a carbon-offset program. He served as design critic for the District of Esquimalt from 2012-2018 and as Chair of the BC Green Building Council from 2016-2020.

Blake Wylder

Blake Wylder graduated in Integrated Media from Emily Carr University in 2008. After graduation, he and his wife created Inkspoon Organic Clothing – an innovative and highly successful business featuring original screen-printed designs on sustainable clothing made in BC. In 2021, Blake began practice as Project Designer at Iredale Design. He played a principal role in the design of Naka’Pamux Cultural Center, developing the structure’s innovative double-curved roof form and the complex geometry of the central “gathering- place” drum. He is currently completing a degree in Architecture at the University of Athabasca and is enrolled in the RAIC Syllabus program.

Blake is a talented sculptor and visual artist. Apart from his creative work for Inkspoon, Blake has designed and built stage backdrops and performance lighting for a number of music festivals in Canada and the US, including the Shambala festival in the Kootenays and the Campbell Bay Festival in the Gulf Islands. His computer design skills include Revit, AutoCad, Sketch-Up, Rhino, and VectorWorks.
